EQ6 plus water filter cleaning

Water affects the smell and taste of your coffee quite a lot. Its pH value and the amount of calcium, chlorine and minerals make water ‘hard’ or ‘soft’. Too hard water makes your coffee bitter, too soft water makes it sour. The ideal water is somewhere in between. A water filter helps by reducing limescale and impurities, making your coffee taste better.

Note: Before using a new water filter, rinse it.

EQ6 plus descale

The appliance lets you know when it's time to descale the machine via a notification. You can also combine descaling with the Calc'n Clean function for an extra thorough clean.

Cleaning the EQ700 coffee machine

EQ700 daily maintenance

Cleaning the EQ700 is easy and quick because one part is self-cleaning; every time you turn it on or off, it automatically flushes. We recommend cleaning the following parts every day: drip tray, coffee grounds container, milk system and milk reservoir. Below we explain step by step how to do this.

Cleaning the drip tray and reservoir

The drip tray and the coffee grounds container should be emptied and cleaned every day to prevent deposits from forming. This is how to proceed:

  1. Pull the drip tray with the coffee grounds container forward and out.

  2. Remove the drip tray and clean it with a brush.

  3. Empty and clean the drip tray and coffee grounds container, rinse them under water or clean them in the dishwasher.

  4. Wipe down the inside of the machine (the collection trays).

  5. Place the coffee grounds container and the drip tray back in the coffee machine.

Cleaning the milk system and milk container

Always clean the milk system after making a drink with milk to remove residues. Is the milk system still hot? Let it cool down before touching it.

  1. Remove the milk container from the machine.

  2. Slide the spout system all the way down. Note: the cover of the delivery system should not go into the dishwasher.

  3. Hold the bottom of the lid and remove the milk hose.

  4. Pull the white adapter and the milk system forward and out.

  5. Take the milk system components apart.

  6. Clean the components with soapy water and a soft cloth.

  7. Rinse, dry and reassemble the milk system components.

  8. Slide the spout system all the way down.

  9. Slide in the white adapter on the left-hand side and insert the front milk system into the machine; make sure it sits straight.

  10. Fasten the lid at the top and turn it down: it will click into place.

  11. Slide the spout system all the way up.

  12. Clean the milk container and put it back.

These parts of the EQ700 are dishwasher-safe up to max 60°C:

  • Drip tray

  • Drip tray

  • Coffee grounds container

  • Mechanical fill level indicator

  • Milk system with adapter

  • Milk container with lid

Have you been away for a while? Then it's smart to give your EQ700, including the milk system and brewing group, a thorough cleaning. This is hygienic and prevents mould growth.

EQ700 water filter cleaning

A water filter ensures that your coffee always tastes good. It reduces limescale deposits and impurities in the water. This also reduces the need to descale the machine. The machine also works without a water filter. But because of the taste and proper functioning of the machine and maintenance, we recommend using it. Do you have a subscription with us? Then you don't need to buy a filter yourself, as we regularly send you a new one.

This is how to replace or remove the water filter:

  1. Click on the Water drop with star symbol.

  2. Click on INTENZA filter.

  3. Click Replace or Remove and follow the instructions on the display.

  4. Replace the water filter every 2 months.

  5. Before the new water filter can be used, you need to rinse it. This can be done by making a ‘cup of hot water’ with the appliance.

Descaling EQ700

The EQ700 indicates when it's time to descale the machine via a notification on the touchscreen. For descaling, you will need a descaling tablet. Do you have a subscription with us? Then you will automatically receive these regularly. You don't pay anything extra for this. Part of our service. We advise against using dishwasher tablets, baking soda or other descaling agents. These can damage your coffee machine.

This is how to descale the EQ700:

  1. Click on the Water drop with star symbol.

  2. Select ‘Descale’ on the touchscreen.

  3. The programme guides you through the process.

  4. The descaling programme takes about 35 minutes.

Which cleaning products can you use?

Do you have a subscription with us? Then you will regularly receive the right cleaning products at home.

Never use the following cleaning products to clean the Siemens coffee machine:

  1. Cleaning products containing alcohol or spirit.

  2. Citric acid, vinegar or vinegar-based agents to descale the appliance.

  3. Descaling agents containing phosphoric acid.

  4. Scouring cloths or abrasives.

  5. New sponge cloths. These may contain salts that cause rust to form on stainless steel. These sponge cloths should therefore always be rinsed out thoroughly before using them.
