Wash-dryer cleaning tips
A washer-dryer is ideal if you want clean and dry clothes quickly, but don't have the space for two separate appliances or if you prefer to use the space for something else. To keep your washer-dryer working properly, regular maintenance is very important. This ensures better washing and drying results and extends the life of the appliance. Find out in this blog how to clean your washer-dryer easily, quickly and properly per component.
Washer-dryer maintenance
Like other household appliances, a washer-dryer combination is subject to dirt build-up and scale build-up. This can lead to less efficient operation, an unpleasant smell and even malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents this and ensures your clothes smell fresh and are perfectly clean.

Cleaning the tumble dryer filter
The filter of your washer-dryer is important for getting rid of lint and dirt. A clogged filter reduces the efficiency of the machine and causes malfunctions.

The detergent compartment
Over time, the detergent compartment can become clogged with leftover detergent and fabric softener residue. This causes mould and foul odours.
Here's how to do it
Carefully pull the detergent compartment out of the machine.
Rinse it under warm running water.
Use an old toothbrush to remove stubborn dirt or mould.
Dry the tray thoroughly before replacing it.
The drum
After a number of washes, grease builds up and dirt remains in the drum. If you don't remove this, the washer-dryer will start to smell. Besides, it's not a nice idea to wash your nice clothes in there, is it?
Here's how to do it
First remove all the clothes from the drum.
Run an empty wash cycle at a high temperature (90°C) with a detergent specially designed for washers, or use cleaning vinegar or baking soda as an alternative.
Then air the drum well by leaving the door open.
The rubber
Dirt and detergent residue can remain in the rubber around the door. Mould can also develop. The rubber is often overlooked, but it is important to clean it regularly.

The dryer functions
Check the dryer functions and also clean the dryer functions regularly. This will prevent overheating and ensure that the dryer keeps drying as economically and well as possible.

Cleaning the exterior
The outside of the machine can also get dirty from dust or spilt detergent. This is the simplest step, but still important for a fresh look and clean ‘working environment’.
Here's how to do it
Use a soft, damp cloth with a mild detergent to wipe down the outside of the machine.
Make sure to include all buttons, the display and the top of the machine.
Remove limescale
Lime deposits can damage internal parts of your washer-dryer and reduce its performance, especially in areas with hard water. It is therefore important to regularly check for and remove limescale deposits.

Tips from our team
After each wash, leave the drum door and detergent compartment open for a while to allow it to dry. This will reduce the risk of mould.
Do not use too much detergent. This reduces grease lice, prevents (old) detergent from accumulating in the machine and in your clothes. Excess foam can also damage the machine. In addition, you won't have to buy detergent as often.
Clean the filter and drum monthly for optimal performance. This is an average. The more often you wash and dry during the week, the more often you should clean the machine.
