Repair costs: who pays what?

We aim to take as much off your plate as possible by letting you use top-quality appliances from Bosch or Siemens, without you needing to handle anything if the appliance breaks. That’s why we always provide a solution to ensure your appliance is working as it should. However, we don’t automatically cover all the costs associated with a repair. For instance, we cover repair costs from normal wear-and-tear but we don't cover for mis-use. We always inform you of the costs upfront, so you know what to expect.

In this blog, we explain what we cover, when a repair isn’t included in your fixed monthly fee, and we share tips on how to prevent defects as much as possible.

What do we cover?

We stand by the quality of our appliances and always cover the costs if defects are due to technical issues or normal wear and tear. This means that if an appliance isn’t functioning properly due to a manufacturing defect or ageing parts, we will cover the repair or replacement costs at no extra charge to you.

What don’t we cover?

Repairs or replacements caused by poor maintenance and/or careless use. Below are some examples of repairs that you’ll need to pay for yourself, in addition to the monthly fee.

Blockages caused by foreign objects in the washer

Blockages in the washer’s filter or pump are often caused by foreign objects that end up in the drum, such as coins, socks, nails, or screws. These items can block the pump and cause serious damage.

How to prevent this?

Check your laundry beforehand and make sure all pockets are empty. Put underwire bras, small socks, and other small items in a laundry bag. This will help prevent underwires from damaging the drum or socks from disappearing into the pump or filter. Plus, a laundry bag protects your clothes and keeps them looking good for longer. Defects caused by lint in the dryer

Lint accumulates in dryers, especially if the filter is not cleaned after every use. This built-up lint can spread through the dryer and lead to defects such as reduced airflow, overheating, or even fire hazards.

How to prevent this?

Clean the filter after every drying cycle. It’s that simple. It doesn’t take much time and will help prevent defects, allowing the dryer to function as efficiently and energy-saving as possible. Discover more tips for dryer maintenance (Dutch only).

Broken detachable parts

Some of our appliances come with detachable parts, like our fridges. They are equipped with trays and compartments in the door. If these parts are overloaded, they can break.

How to prevent this?

For fridges, avoid placing bottles or other items in the door trays or compartments that feel too heavy or don’t fit properly. In general, handle detachable parts and the appliance as a whole with care. Don’t slam doors or use a lot of force. Treat the appliance as if it were your own. Defects caused by pests and vermin inside the appliance

Yes, unfortunately, this can happen. Thankfully, it’s rare. But we mention it here so that you’re aware. Mice or insects can find their way into appliances like washers or dryers, where they can chew through hoses, damage internal parts, or even cause short circuits.

How to prevent this?

Keep the area where the appliance is located clean and free of pests and vermin. This will be good for both the appliance and the health of you and your family.

Damage from the appliance being dropped

It’s possible for an appliance to get damaged from being dropped, for example, during a move or if it’s knocked over. This can cause serious internal and external damage to the appliance.

How to prevent this?

Move the appliance carefully, place it in a secure location, and, in the case of a move, use a professional moving service or let us handle it for you.

Why rent if you sometimes have to pay for repairs yourself?

  • You don’t have to search for a reliable technician if the appliance breaks down. We handle that for you.

  • We don’t cover everything, but we cover a lot. If you own the appliance, you always pay for repairs yourself. And don’t forget the call-out fees in that case.

  • You have a single point of contact if the appliance breaks: our customer service. So, you don’t need to coordinate with different companies to get the appliance repaired.

  2. Clean the appliance regularly.

  3. Don’t use harsh cleaning products.

  4. Ensure the appliance is placed in a dry, safe, and clean space.
